The Beth Zemsky Podcast: Episode 2
Issues-Based vs Values-Based Organizing
In this second episode, Ryan and I continue to talk about intersectional movement building and how to make systemic change towards equity using values-based versus issue-based organizing. We also discuss my recent trip to Oslo, Norway to work with Skeiv Verden (a LGBTQ organization for people with immigrant and refugee backgrounds) and service providers who work with immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. In addition, as we will do in each episode, we spent some time analyzing the current political landscape through the lens of intersectional movement building.
As we head into the 4th of July holiday week with the passionate desire for freedom, equity, and justice, my hope is that these discussions provide some resources for a deeper understanding of the current political forces at play and how to gear our work toward proactively creating the kind of long-term change we wish to see for our communities.
