Equity Cohorts: Greater NW United Methodist Church

This video provides an overview, in the moving words of the participants, of a multi-year project I facilitated with clergy and lay leaders in the Greater Northwest area of the United Methodist Church (UMC). In a critical moment in the history of the UMC, the leadership of the Greater Northwest area made a bold commitment to center eliminating racism in their ministry as they seek to transform the world towards justice.
The project consisted of:
- Individual and cohort assessment utilizing the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI),
- Over 115 participants who participated in three learning cohorts that each met for 6 full day learning seminars over the course of 9 months,
- Engagement in 16 action learning projects in which they received coaching to apply their learning to impact systemic change within their context.
- A capacity building cohort of 13 Colleagues in Training to continue to support systemic change after my engagement ends.
I invite you to watch this video both to celebrate with the participants as they share the impact of their learning and for those of you curious about the process, texture, and results of my work.
Watch. Enjoy. Let me know what you think.
